The Greatest Mystery of All: Part 1; Zebulun the Spiritual Body Awakened

Behold, I show you a mystery, we shall not all sleep but we shall all be changed…
The biggest event in human history, apart from the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ 2000 years ago, is coming upon us momentarily. I’m not talking about the “Rapture” of the church. I’m talking about Jesus coming personally to each faithful believer. This is not about multitudes of people looking up in the sky and seeing an impersonal Christ looking down on millions of people. No! This is the Lord himself coming to you as though you were the only person on earth. The marriage of a bride and groom is something personal. Yes, there may be a ceremony with family and friends attending, but after that the couple want to be alone together.
The Lord has only recently permitted me to write this on the website. He came to me in this way on February 11, 1997 and has never left. He has led me in the Scriptures daily showing me in his Word about what happened to me so when it happens to you, my writings will be available to help you understand what happened. This will be the first step of your coming into perfection leading to the redemption of your mortal body.
The best way for me to encourage you as to the veracity of what I am saying is to show this to you in the Word. This revelation is not on the surface of the Word. The deeper things of the Word cannot be seen with just a cursory reading of Scripture, but require deep diving and long hours of study. Therefore some of my articles can be quite lengthy because these truths need to be seen in the context in which they are embedded. They are enmeshed in stories—stories that lie beneath the story that is on the surface of the Word.
I intend to begin this particular teaching with Jacob’s tenth son, Zebulun. Zebulun represents your spiritual body that the Lord will awaken as he comes to you. This will happen in an instant, in the twinkling of an eye, and it is a beginning of what will culminate in the development of the spiritual side of your being (spiritual body and spiritual mind) and eventually the redemption of your body. In this way God’s people will still be on earth, but lifted up above the confines of natural life as we have known it. From this high place, we will minister to others in the same spiritual dimension Jesus was in when he walked among us. I am not saying we will be God. I am saying that we will be perfected and will minister in perfection in whatever ministry God has prepared us for. This will be Christ’s body, joined to the Head, and each one functioning in perfect harmony with all others in the body. This will result in perfect ministry such as Jesus had, but done by a many-membered body with each member functioning in their own calling.
Zebulun in Context
Before bringing forth details about Zebulun and why he is symbolic of the awakened spiritual bodies of believers in the end times, I must put him in context of the other twelve sons. Therefore I will attempt to condense a long teaching into a few sentences. It is important to understand that the symbology of each son was revealed to me as I thoroughly examined the following: their birth order; their mother’s name and position in the family; what the mother said at their birth; the prophecy of Jacob over them in Genesis 49; Moses’ blessing over them in Deuteronomy; an examination of the Hebrew definition of each word in each passage; and also any other place in Scripture where their name is mentioned.
With this in mind, I will now briefly state what I learned about the sons, all of whom eventually became tribes. Taking them as a whole, I saw them as symbolically showing the progressive development of a believer on earth who comes into their spiritual inheritance in the Promised Land of their soul even as the actual tribes (sons) achieved their inheritances in their literal earthly Promised Land, Canaan. The following is a brief summary:
- Reuben was the first son. His name means “intelligence.” His mother’s comment over him was “See, a son.” Symbolically, this is showing a person who understands (sees) in their mind (intelligence) that Jesus is the son of God. This is the first step of beginning our journey as a believer.
- The second son’s name, Simeon, means “hearing and obeying.” This is the next step of a believer’s life if he is to move forward in a relationship with God.
- The third son’s name, Levi, means “joining.” As the believer hears and obeys God, he begins joining with him in relationship.
- The fourth son’s name is Judah. He represents our true self. As we join in relationship with God, it is only then we learn our true identity. Only God can tell us who we really are. I have written a book about this entitled Dissociation Revealed and Healed in Scripture based on every verse of Genesis 38.
- The fifth son, Dan, is a type of our conscience.
- The sixth son, Naphtali, represents our spiritual mind.
- The seventh son, Gad, represents overcoming all our trials and tribulations
- The eight son, Asher, whose name means happiness, represents the joy we experience as we listen to our conscience (Dan) so that our spiritual mind can begin to develop (Naphtali) which results in our Overcoming (Gad) in all our trials and tribulations.
- Issachar is symbolic of our holy imagination which will be an important part of our relationship with Jesus as we draw closer to perfection.
- Zebulun is symbolic of our awakened spiritual body.
- Joseph is symbolic of our ruling and reigning with Christ in the end times.
- Benjamin reveals more details of the ministry that will go forth from perfected believers in the end times.
It is most interesting that on the map designating the territories of the twelve tribes, their symbolic designations, as I have seen them, seem to be confirmed according to their locations on the map. For example, the foundation of our life in Christ is our true self (Judah) living in relationship with God. At the base or foundation of the map of the territories is Judah, the true self, with Simeon, meaning hearing and obeying (which develops our relationship with God), in its midst. (Simeon did not have his own territory as the other tribes because of his great sin against the men of Shechem.) So there at the bottom of the map, the foundation for a life in Christ is symbolically seen in those two tribes.
At the very top of the map around the Sea of Galilee are Zebulun (the spiritual body), Naphtali (the spiritual mind) and Issachar (the holy imagination) along with Asher (happiness). These are the evidences and rewards of coming into the fullness of Christ and they are right in the area where Jesus lived and ministered. These tribes are symbolic of the pinnacle of Christian maturity that will be reached in the end times when believers will minister even as Jesus ministered when he lived, taught and performed miracles in that area.
The following teaching about Zebulun was transcribed from my video series about Jacob’s twelve sons. Around what would be about the sixth page of this article, I describe in detail my experience of Jesus coming to me, what it felt like and how he continually manifests himself to me.
If you think this world is falling apart and just about everyone in charge has gone insane, this should give you great hope and encouragement along with an anticipation of great things to come. God has not abandoned us and soon he will begin to display to the whole world his magnificent plan to reveal his Son in his glory and power. In the meantime, it behooves us to spend every spare minute seeking God in his Word, in prayer and in relationship because we must face the future in Christ. The Devil will not just lay down and play dead when God comes to his people in this way. The challenges will be great but we will be up to the challenge if we allow Jesus Christ to have his way in us.
As you will see below, the awakening of the spiritual body begins a process whereby our mortal body will begin to grow healthier and stronger prior to it also coming into perfection.
Zebulun (As transcribed from my video series)
The name Zebulun means “dwelling,” and this is about us being the dwelling place of God and experiencing his manifest presence as he comes to us in the end times.
We have seen in the first nine sons a gradual progression into completeness and wholeness. And now we come to Zebulun and the fact that he is the tenth son is important because of the meaning of the number ten. In E. W. Bullinger’s book, Number in Scripture, here is what he has to say about the number ten:
It is one of the perfect numbers and signifies the perfection of divine order, commencing, as it does, an altogether new series of numbers. The first decade is the representative of the whole numeral system, and originates the system of calculation called “decimals,” because the whole system of numeration consists of so many tens of which the first is a type of the whole. Completeness of order, marking the entire round of anything is, therefore, the ever-present signification of the number ten. It implies that nothing is wanting; that the number and order are perfect; that the whole cycle is complete.
Now, let’s apply this definition to humankind as a whole. God has been working in human beings ever since the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden. He has been working in human beings preparing us for the coming of Christ. First he chose Abraham and called him out of the land of Ur of the Chaldees, and commenced a great work in him. Then he brought forth out of him Isaac and Jacob which became a nation of people through whom God could manifest his glory, and whom he could lead and teach about himself in preparation for the eventual coming of Jesus Christ. After Jesus came, God began to manifest himself to and through his church. And now he has been dealing with the church and working in us for 2000 years. It is now time for his second coming and time for his people to come into the perfection of divine order.
Getting back to the spiritual significance of the number ten according to Bullinger and how it relates to Zebulun as the quickening of our spiritual body…
Ten is a perfect number, (we will be coming into perfection). It signifies the perfection of divine order, (this is done only by God and in his perfect timing). It is commencing an altogether new series of numbers, (our life will never be the same because we have entered into a whole new dimension in God). The number ten signifies completeness of order, marking the entire round of anything; the whole cycle is complete, (life on earth and life for the church will never be the same again; we are entering into a whole new age).
Zebulun was born to Leah and at his birth Leah said, “God has endued me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun.”
Many years ago when a woman was married, she was expected to bring a dowry. It was like a gift that she presented to her husband. And certainly we can apply this in a spiritual sense that we are the gift we are giving to God. We are giving our lives to God as we’ve been willing to lay down everything and die to self and all that this world would have to offer us in order that we could belong completely to Christ. And now he is going to come and dwell in us in greater fullness than has ever been possible before now.
Our First Perception
Zebulun represents our first tangible perception that Christ has come to us. I am able to write about this because God has allowed me to have some experiences with him that have opened my eyes to the Scriptures where he has been able to show me things in his Word based on these experiences. He wanted me to write about this so that when others have this experience, (and there will be a great many of them), there will be something written—something ready for them to help them understand what happened to them.
I believe we are on the very verge of something horrendous happening worldwide that’s going to strike great fear in the hearts of everyone. And at that time, concurrently with it, God is going to manifest himself to his true believers—not to everyone who says “I’m a Christian” and attends church and lives their life in a worldly manner—but to those who are truly his, he is going to make himself known to each one individually. This will not be like seeing him with our natural eyes or hearing him with our natural ears, but it will be a way that’s very personal and very perceptible where we will know beyond the shadow of a doubt that this is the Alpha and Omega and that he has come to us personally.
Many books have been written and sermons preached that are all about the second coming. There have been people writing and showing timelines about exactly when things are going to happen and what the nations are going to do. There has been a lot of teaching about a “Rapture” to the point there have been bumper stickers that say, “In case of Rapture, this car will be unmanned” and best-selling books about all these people disappearing at the great tribulation. But I don’t believe it is God’s way to tell everybody in the world what he’s getting ready to do.
You know, when Jesus came the first time, it was a secret. It was a mystery, and the scholars and learned men in the Scriptures totally missed it. They had no concept of what God did. He did it in such a way that only those with right hearts could really perceive the Lord. I believe it’s God’s way to do things to surprise us and it’s not going to be something that everybody is going to immediately know, but I believe there are different facets of the second coming.
What I’m going to be talking about in Zebulun is going to be the first experience we’re going to have knowing that this is it. It is the end times. The Lord has come to me, and WOW! This is exciting!
Paul speaks about the second coming being a mystery in 1 Corinthians 15:51, 52 where he says,
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
I believe this is coming very soon and we will see this in Zebulun. Paul speaks of this again in Colossians 1:26-28:
…Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
There are two things Paul says here that I want to point out. One is that it is Christ in you, and that is very much what we are going to experience—Christ in us, and the second thing is to present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. The Lord is coming in a very special and perceptible way to perfect us and prepare us for a greater infilling as Christ the head is joined with his body on earth in a magnificent and wonderful way in these end times.
There is a lot more scriptural evidence that Zebulun is the spiritual body awakened and what this means to us, but first I would like to tell how it happened for me.
My Experience
In 1996 we moved to a new pastorate where I began ministering to an abused woman in our new church who was extremely broken. She had had the most horrendous childhood and adulthood anybody could ever imagine. About two months after I began ministering to her, we went together to a women’s retreat for women from several different churches held in another city. Our first morning there, we were in our room praying silently. She was sitting on the bed. I was sitting on a chair at a desk with my back to her, and I was silently praying, “O Lord, please give me a double portion of your Spirit.” I had no sooner prayed that than she said, “I just had a vision of you and Jesus. I saw him come over to you and he put these two cloaks on you, one was a red cloak for his love and one was a purple cloak for his majesty.
I was totally amazed. That was the beginning of a relationship of ministry together where I would minister to her for her brokenness and at the end of the ministry time, she would minister to me a word from the Lord. Sometimes it was a prophetic word and often it was a vision. This went on for almost a year before the experience I’m going to relate to you happened.
This particular time in 1997, she had a vision where Jesus and I were sitting together on a large rock in a beautiful meadow. And we were just talking when suddenly he reached down and touched my feet and said, “These feet will never touch the earth again.”
I had no idea what that meant but for almost a year she had been having visions for me with Jesus. They were always relational and it seemed like he was courting me. He would say lovely and endearing things to me and he would bring me gifts. He would bring me flowers. He would talk to me about the beauty of nature and how he had made all of this for me to enjoy. He gave me a ring.
And then a little bit later, there was a vision of a wedding ceremony in heaven where I was married to the Lord. Well, I didn’t think too much about it because most of us believe we are living in the end times and we are the bride of Christ. Then shortly after that she had the vision where we were sitting on a large rock in a meadow, and he reached down and touched my feet and said, “These feet will never touch the earth again.”
Well, that night when I went to bed I was lying there in my room waiting for sleep to come, when all of a sudden I felt this very gentle and sweet tingling in my feet that quickly spread up my legs and the trunk of my body and into my arms, hands and fingers. It was very rhythmic like being gently massaged, not on my skin, but deep inside my body. I also felt like I was elevated and floating like being on a raft riding on some gentle waves of water. It was just delightful. I knew Jesus had come to me in a very special way. I knew it was related to the vision my friend had had because it started in my feet. It was the most glorious and wonderful experience I had ever had.
I had never heard of anyone having an experience like this. I had certainly never felt such a thing and I knew Jesus had come to me in a very special way in the end times and that this had something to do with the second coming. What I experienced that night never ended. That was twenty-five years ago (as of this video transcription in 2022), and that wonderful feeling has never left me. It has only intensified.
When I lie down for rest, I feel like I’m taking off in a jet plane. It is the feeling of rising up. As I studied the Word in the light of this experience, I came to realize this was the awakening of my spiritual body which is the first event in the quickening of our mortal body and bringing our mortal body into perfection in the redemption of the body.
Her visions did not stop with this experience. They continued. They continued to be relational, and the Lord would touch me in some way in her visions. For example, she had a vision of Jesus touching my shoulder and for the next several days, I would periodically feel his touch on my shoulder. It’s hard to describe the feeling because it’s not the feeling of a physical hand coming down on a physical shoulder. It’s a spiritual hand coming very gently and warmly on a spiritual shoulder. So it is very difficult to describe what I was feeling, but it was very real. I came to know that God was encouraging me that when I felt something in my body, I was to imagine him with me doing this thing. Like it was easy to imagine myself sitting on the rock with Jesus when he touched my feet and that tingling, wave-like feeling began. So if I felt something touching my shoulder, I would know it was the Lord’s hand, and I would envision that.
So he began to develop my imagination along with the feeling of the quickening of the body, and they do go together.
I think it is important for me to say that I can’t feel the difference between my spiritual body and my natural body. It all feels the same to me. And I’ve never had any out-of-body kind of experience. I’ve never felt myself floating to the ceiling or anything like that. I’m always very aware of being on earth, but in my imagination I can picture things in heaven, but I don’t see them perfectly clearly. It’s in my imagination. But what I am feeling in my body, I can see in my imagination, and it makes his presence incredibly real.
I began to understand God speaks to me through my body. I don’t hear any audible words but I learned that if God was saying “yes” or “it’s going to be okay,” I would feel like the sun was shining on my face. One example of this happening was in regards to my buying of shoes. I have great difficulty finding shoes that fit because I have very narrow feet, and for the most part, they stopped making narrow shoes a few years ago. But I can be trying on shoes, and when I get to the pair that’s right for me, sometimes I’ll feel his warmth like sunshine on my face and I’ll know that’s those are the shoes for me.
Or sometimes I’ll be looking for something at home and I’ll think, Well, I don’t know if it’s even here anymore. What if I left it somewhere? If I feel his warmth on my face, I’ll know it’s somewhere there in the house, and without exception, if I keep looking, I will find it.
Similarly, if I begin to do something I should not do, the Lord can cause a pain to come in my body. For example, one time I was walking alone up the road beside our house where we live in the mountains when I got this terrific sharp pain in my groin. I just couldn’t walk up the hill. It seemed ridiculous because my husband and I walk up that hill together almost every day and I knew I could do it, but this time it was impossible, so I turned and walked back down the hill, and then I walked other places on our property. I had no problem walking up a steep hill on our property, but it was hidden from the road by our trees.
That night when I was sleeping I had a dream. In my dream someone had abducted me when I walked up the hill by myself. I found myself in a strange city. I didn’t know how to get home. I had no phone. I knew no one and they even spoke another language I could not understand. When I awoke from the dream, the message was very clear. Don’t ever walk up that road by yourself. And I never have. I do not walk up that road unless my husband is with me. So as you can see, there are many ways the Lord can speak to us through our body.
In 1 Corinthians 15:44, Paul writes about the natural body and the spiritual body:
It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. (1 Cor 15:44)
I had always thought that we did not get a spiritual body until we die and are ready to go to heaven, but I learned we have a spiritual body even now. It’s just asleep. It is something that we lost at the time of the fall when Adam and Eve sinned. When they were cast out of the garden, they lost the spiritual side of their being. It didn’t disappear, it just went to sleep so to speak. So it says here there is a natural body and there IS a spiritual body, not there will be a spiritual body, but there IS a spiritual body. Paul continues by saying:
The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first that was spiritual, but that which is natural and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth earthy, and the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, so also are they that are earthy, and such as is heavenly so are they also which are heavenly.(1 Cor 15:45-48)
Well I can read this whole passage and it seems so clear to me that that which is earthy is my natural body. That which is heavenly, is my spiritual body. The first man Adam means my natural body. Christ who is the quickening spirit has come and quickened my spiritual body. Paul continues by saying,
And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: (1 Cor 15:49-52a)
When Paul says “We shall not all sleep,” I believe that means we are not all going to die. It also means not all parts of us are going to be sleeping. He says, “I show you a mystery, we shall not all sleep but we shall be changed.” This quickening of the spiritual body is the beginning of that change, because it says “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,” and that’s the way it was for me. One moment I didn’t feel a thing and the next moment I felt that tingling and that wavelike motion in my feet that quickly spread over my whole body, and it has been with me ever since.
And he says “at the last trump.” Now if you look up the Greek word for “trump” and “trumpet” you find it is from a root word that means “quavering” “a reverberation,” and that is how I would describe the feeling of the spiritual body being awakened. It is like a very pleasant and gentle quavering. I believe it is consistent throughout the book of Revelation that the trumpet has to do with the awakening of the spiritual body and the awakening of parts of us that we have not been aware of. Paul continues and says:
for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (1 Cor 15:52b)
Now you could look at this two ways. You could look at it as people who have died and are raised, or you could look at it as being parts of us that are dead. Since the time of the fall our spiritual mind and our spiritual body have been like dead to us. But in the end times these are being raised and they are incorruptible. They are absolutely perfect, and we are being changed.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality…(1 Cor 15:54a)
I see this as being a process. First there is this instant change in the twinkling of an eye—when my spiritual body was quickened, but I have to put on incorruption. I have to put on immortality as I choose to obey God and do what is righteous and abandon all sin and all carnality…
then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1Cor 15:54b-57)
As I put off sin and carnality the Lord helps me because now that I can feel him in my body, he can tell me the moment I even think something sinful.
One night I went out on my deck to get wood for our wood stove. I looked up in the sky (it was about 4:30 in the morning) and the stars were so beautiful. I brought the wood in and stoked the fire. About an hour later I went back out for more wood and looked up at the sky expecting to see the stars, but they were all gone, and I thought, well that figures—that’s the way it always is in western New York. The clouds are always rolling in and we don’t even get to see the meteor showers or eclipses. Immediately my left eye began to itch intensely and I knew the Lord was saying, “You’re not supposed to grumble and complain.”
So I repented and the feeling immediately went away. So there is a working together of eradicating sin out of your life once that spiritual body is awakened, and the Lord can speak to you so clearly through your body. He has spoken to me about what I should not eat many times through my body. The last time I went to reach for a cup of coffee, I sneezed four times in a row. I thought, Okay Lord, no more coffee for me. And he confirmed that in his Word.
The Bible has much more to say about Zebulun. I will reveal more of this in the next article.
