Helping Those Who Have Been Satanically Ritually Abused

There are many beliefs we hold whose foundation is in our cultural and societal mores rather than in the Bible. Our lives can be greatly hindered because of these false suppositions. It is often difficult to determine which beliefs are rooted in public opinion and which are actually biblical truth. The more we study the Bible and seek to deepen our relationship with Christ, the more we will be able to discern what is true and what is false.
One of these misconceptions is the belief that only professionally trained counselors can help someone recover from satanic ritual abuse. This simply is not true. Professional counselors may tell us this is so and many church leaders may agree, but that doesn’t mean it is fact. I am living proof of this. If we have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, then we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Nowhere does the Bible tell us we need professionals to help us with spiritual and emotional problems. The body of Christ is equipped to meet these needs if we do not hinder the Lord’s working by our own unbelief, fear or selfishness.
When I started ministering to SRA persons, I had no idea how to go about it. However, I had all I needed to be successful. (1) I knew I was called; (2) I knew the Holy Spirit would guide me; and (3) I was willing to sacrifice my time. Most people did not have Internet in those days (1992) and no how-to books were available. It was just “me n’ God.” However, that is a very good place to be. I’ll admit I felt all alone in the ministry. I’ll admit that I was misunderstood by some church people…but the joy of seeing God’s most wounded lambs recover, along with the nearness of His presence, made it all worth while.
The Lord assures me that He wants to replicate with many other Christians what He has done with me. In our misunderstanding and human weakness we want a formula for how to do things, but God wants relationship. If we had a step-by-step plan to follow, we wouldn’t need to lean on the Lord. He would be our servant. We would say something like, “Okay, God, now you can do this, or now you can do that.” He doesn’t work that way. How much better it is to say, “Lord, I don’t know what to do. Please guide me.” Then we try whatever comes into our mind to do, and we find that somehow it works. If it doesn’t work the first time, we try something else and eventually the miracle of healing and deliverance takes place…and God gets all the glory!
I highly recommend my book Restoring Survivors of Satanic Ritual Abuse to anyone who is willing to try what I am suggesting here. It is filled with basic biblical principles that I have successfully used in SRA ministry along with goals for abuse counseling and basic understandings of how the inner world of the soul and spirit functions. I am thoroughly convinced that if I can do this ministry, then so can many others. This is the only way there are going to be enough ministers to help the multitudes of SRA persons who are desperately seeking help.
If you are an SRA person who has not been able to find professional help, would you be willing to prayerfully consider what I am suggesting here? Pray and ask God to bring a strong Christian into your life (or perhaps there is someone there now) whom God might be calling to the SRA ministry. This concept is so foreign to people’s minds that they would never consider this possibility and therefore would not be able to hear the Lord’s prompting in this regard. However, if you are open to this idea and are willing to pray about it, you may be amazed at what God can do.
