The Gift of Discerning of Spirits
The gift of discerning of spirits will be one of the most important gifts to the church of the end times…
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills, (I Cor. 12:7-11).
The gift of discerning of spirits will be one of the most important gifts to the church of the end times…and the end times are here. The enemies of America and the church are spiritually astute persons who have been deceived by the Devil. They have had their eyes opened to the spirit realm via the rituals and occult practices they have participated in to the point they can see demons and communicate with them. This gives them supernatural powers to do harm to Christians and all those who believe in America and all she stands for.
Christians already have far more power than any demon could give anyone, but most Christians are not living the life of sanctification and self sacrifice necessary to appropriate and walk in the power of the Spirit and the gifts God has for each member of the Body. God will not give His most powerful gifts to persons who will misuse them and try to gain personal profit through their use. This can be confusing to many Christians because they see persons in the church living an unholy lifestyle and walking in “gifts.” Perhaps what we are really seeing are counterfeit supernatural powers that come from the evil one. It is important to remember that all the power gifts can be counterfeited by the enemy. This is why Jesus warned that we should beware of false prophets and that we would know them by their fruits. True fruit…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control…cannot be counterfeited. Sometimes we are not able to apply this test because we have no way of observing a person’s life in the context of life lived in their own home in close relationships where the true self is revealed.
I believe very few persons possess the gift of discerning of spirits as bestowed by God upon a holy-living person…a person who prays and lives in obedience to Christ. However, the church has available to her a vast resource of wonderfully spiritually astute persons who can be of great benefit to the pastor and church leaders. These are Christians who have suffered from satanic ritual abuse.
Against their will they were subjected to horrifically painful and terrifying rituals where demons came upon them and did terrible things to them (this happens to infants and little children!). One thing the demons do is to tear apart the veil God placed between humans and the spiritual realm to protect them from seeing and feeling these wicked beings. God intended to protect us from this realm Himself. All He requires is that we obey Him and walk in relationship with Him.
There is a wicked spiritual realm all around us where demons actively try to influence humans to do their bidding. We can only withstand them in the power of God—only Christ in us can stand against them. As America has chosen to reject God and her Christian heritage, demons have thereby gained tremendous power over people’s lives…hence we have an epidemic of sexual abuse, depression, mental illness, broken homes…you name it! And if that weren’t bad enough, God is withdrawing His protective hand that has guarded us from the horrific natural disasters seen in other nations.
When the majority of Americans believed the Bible was the standard for truth (even if they weren’t believers they knew the Bible was right), we enjoyed a life envied by many persons around the world and we were protected from our enemies, but that is rapidly changing. Hurricane Katrina was just the beginning of a series of natural disasters (and human induced disasters) such as America has never experienced. No more is the Bible seen as the touchstone of truth. We live in a society where many persons believe truth does not exist…that everything is relative according to how YOU think it is.
It should be a great comfort to those of us who see what is going on to know that in addition to the evil supernatural realm of demons, there is also a good spiritual realm of Jesus and His holy angels all around us. If we want to see and hear these incredible and loving allies, we must live a holy lifestyle of love and obedience to God that will enable Him to strip away from us our sinful carnal nature.
When it comes to seeing into the spiritual realms, we see with the eyes of our heart. If there is any darkness in our heart (and we all have far more darkness than we realize), we will mostly see the demons who can appear disguised as angels of light. Left to our own self we would be completely deceived by them which is why God has chosen to keep that realm closed to us until we reach a certain level of purity of heart. With a pure heart we will only see what God chooses to show us which will be of great benefit to us and to the church. However, even though few of us possess this level of purity, we can still see into this realm in a safe way through the lives of the satanically ritually abused persons around us. Through their suffering, the veil was torn away and they are now open to the spiritual world. I have found these dear persons to be immensely helpful in many ways.
I know by experience that what I am about to say is absolutely true. Satanists and witches are able to walk into our churches and even climb to positions of power in our local churches and to national levels of power in our denominations because Christians lack the gift of discerning of spirits. It is impossible to detect these persons apart from the revelation of the Holy Spirit. They may be attractive in appearance, personable in conversation and know the Bible very well. They may have attended the same conferences we attend and have the same books we have on the bookshelves of their living rooms. They will lift their hands in praise during our worship services and sing our songs even when the songs denigrate Satan. It is absolutely impossible to discern them by any natural faculty.
There are persons in our churches who do discern them but usually no one will have regard for their warnings. The persons who discern them are the satanically ritually abused. They can see the demons. If they don’t see them, they feel them. These persons are extremely valuable to the church and yet they are often disdained by a church totally ignorant of the phenomenon of satanic ritual abuse.
I am extremely grateful to the SRA persons in our church who have sounded the alarm for us many times. And I am extremely grateful to a holy and loving God who is beginning to open somewhat this realm to me. It is just beginning and only after a very long preparation (a lifetime? or so it seems!).
I’d like to elaborate a little on how my SRA friends are able to sound the alarm when witches or Satanists try to enter our fellowship undetected. Witches and Satanists get their powers from demons, and they carry a load of demons with them wherever they go. (See my book, Discerning of Spirits in Revelation 9 for a more thorough and biblical explanation of this.) When one of these Satan worshipers enters a church, the demons they carry in jump onto some of the people and start trying to influence them. The only people who feel them are the SRA people. There have been many times I have had to do deliverance ministry with SRA persons after someone like that has visited our church.
What do you do when you know a witch or Satanist is trying to become an integral part of your fellowship or has been there for years without being discerned? It all depends on your situation. If you are not the pastor and your pastor won’t listen to you, all you can do is pray or leave. If you are the pastor but you are in a denomination where overseers won’t believe you, again, all you can do is pray or leave. If you are the pastor and have left the denominational situation and opted to be independent, then you can handle the situation any way God directs. If you are not a pastor, you can start your own church and meet in homes. Personally that is what we believe is the best way, and it is the way the Lord led us. For more information on this, see my husband’s book, The Last Church Standing, that is available on this site.
Jesus wants His church to be pure. The worldly denominations want their churches to be large. You can’t have it both ways. If you discern someone is in the enemy’s camp and confront them, they may leave your church but they’ll take as many people with them as they can. That is okay as far as we are concerned. If this happens, God is probably purifying His church. Since we don’t have to give a tithe of our church income to the denomination or pay to maintain an expensive church building, we are just fine.
Gone are the days when Christians could get by with living a nominal Christian existence. The time has come for all believers to “get in or get out” as regards to the faith. Truly the church of America has become as the church of Laodecia. We must heed Jesus’ warning in Revelation Three:
And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. (Rev 3:14-22)
